Pipelines
Before you sign any paper giving someone else the right to build something on your land, you need a lawyer.  Here are some links as to what concerns us about pipelines:
  • A list of pipeline "incidents".
  • A list of possible issues a lawyer should look at.  Remember, you might check your physician's diagnosis by reading on the internet, but we hope you wouldn't treat a life-threatening disease this way.  Most pipeline easements are forever; if the company goes out of business, they aren't going to come and dig the pipeline up and restore the trees they cut down.

Click here to find out what Dr. Perry discovered in her research on community impacts:   "It's Like We're Losing Our Love" Documenting and Evaluating Social Change in Bradford County PA During the Shale Gas Boom 2009-2011 by Simona Perry, PHD, Rensslaer Polytechnic Institute, November 18, 2011.  After 3 yrs. studying rural life alongside a river in Bradford PA just as the drilling boom was beginning, she concludes that people’s reactions are similar to those who have been abused.
